A Texas operator of a science-related website has been sued by Microsoft for what Microsoft charges is a scheme to fake advertising clicks for profit.
May 20, 2010 /Online Marketing - SEO PR News/ -- A Texas operator of a science-related website has been sued by Microsoft for what Microsoft charges is a scheme to fake advertising clicks for profit.
According to Microsoft, the website RedOrbit.com went from 75 ad clicks on its site to 10,000 in the space of 3 months, prompting Microsoft to check the legitimacy of users clicking the ads. Red Orbit has denied the allegations.
Click fraud is becoming much more sophisticated, according to industry experts. Google in 2006 reimbursed $90 million to advertisers who claimed they had no opportunity to make sales because the clicks were bogus.
